Class discussion: What do all of these descriptions have in common? What do they identify?

5. Adaptation
What does it mean? Come up with a definition together as a class
An adaptation is a mutation, or genetic change, that helps an organism, such as a plant or animal, survive in its environment. Due to the helpful nature of the mutation, it is passed down from one generation to the next.

6. 1) What different environments do plants and animals live in and what adaptations do they have that enable them to survive in these environments? 2) How might a change in environment impact living things?
