Chapter 5 reveals a lot about the changing nature of Dr Jekyll. Using the sheet can you put the plot of Chapter 5 in chronological order? Green writing task: Can you find a quote to support each element of the plot? EXTENSION: How has Dr Jekyll changed from Chapter 3 ‘Dr Jekyll was quite at Ease’?

5 How can Jekyll’s residence be seen as reflective of the human mind?
How does the fact that it is Guest that recognises the similarity in handwriting of Jekyll and Hyde impact on Utterson’s credibility? How can Jekyll’s residence be seen as reflective of the human mind? Look at the descriptions in Chapters 1-5 of Hyde’s residence and the block in which it is situated. Draw a sketch of his home and the neighbouring surroundings- label with quotes.
