2. Talk in your group and discuss how wind power generates electricity.

4 The energy in wind can be harnessed to produce electricity.

5 As wind blows past the blades,

6 sensors detect the direction of the wind and turn the blades to face it.

7 The blades rotate around a hub

8 which is connected to a shaft inside the head.

9 The rotating shaft powers a generator to convert the energy into electricity.

10 Electricity is sent via pylons and cables to homes around the country.
