16 © DLR, Institute of Flight GuidanceASAS Thematic Network – 2 nd Workshop 6-8 October 2003 – MalmöPage 16 MA-AFAS Taxi Management - Results Pilots comments - Easy use of the system - Implementation of a history function regarding CPDLC messages (pilot need for review of the sent/received messages) - Taxi map display needs to be reviewed (e.g.colors, map details) - Incoming messages on the MCDU/Nav Display; an audio indication would be advantageous Operational procedures - Pilot in command was taxiing, - Co-pilot was observing the display and managing data link communication Situation awareness benefits and pilot workload - not assessed (simple airport layout, good weather conditions during the taxi trials)

17 © DLR, Institute of Flight GuidanceASAS Thematic Network – 2 nd Workshop 6-8 October 2003 – MalmöPage 17 MA-AFAS Taxi Management - Conclusions Achievements Taxi Management - map display, own aircraft position and traffic information on the Nav Display - uplink of taxi routes - typical CPDLC messages during ground operations were sent and received - Runway alert, runway incursion VDL-4 Datalink Applications - ADS-B - TIS-B - CPDLC
