3 AccessText Overview Funding provided by the Association of American Publishers (AAP), Charter Publishers including Bedford, Freeman & Worth, Cengage, CQ Press, Elsevier, McGraw-Hill, Pearson, Wiley, WW Norton and the University System of Georgia’s Alternative Media Access Center. Publisher funding provided until June 30, 2010. Publisher members provide DSS offices and Alternate Media Centers with electronic files of textbooks for use by qualified students with disabilities. A central place for DSS and publisher collaboration on textbook accessibility issues.

5 AccessText Features A single membership verification process for DSS offices and Alternate Media Centers provides access to multiple publishers. An accessible web-based system for file and permission requests. Automatically maintains and tracks request records. Technical support, training and resources available. Federated search of multiple alternate text sources (Spring 2010). Publisher sanctioned DSS to DSS file exchange (Spring 2010).

6 Application Statistics
Over 650 members and 6 Alternate Media Centers from 48 states and the District of Columbia. Over 3,500 requests processed with 95% fulfillment rate. Pearson accounts for 37% of all requests, Cengage 24%, McGraw-Hill 17%. Average fulfillment time is 4.5 days. PDF provided 82% of the time, Word .DOC 17%.
