2 Introduction tablets are solid dosage form each containing a single dose of one or more active substances. Tablets are intended for oral administration. Tablets can be: Swallowed whole Chewed Dissolved or dispersed in water Retained in the mouth

3 Advantages Ease of administration Stable Accurate dose
Easy to handle and transfer Cheap

4 Disadvantages Tablets are not suitable dosage form for drugs that are:
Resist compression Poor wetting and slow dissolution properties Bitter-tasting drugs, drugs with an unpleasant odor.

5 Tablet formation Tablets are normally formed by powder compression.
The compression takes place in a die by the action of two punches

14 Procedure Mix all the required powders in a bottle and shake it for 3 minutes. Put the powder blend in to the hopper of the tablet press machine. Start to press the powder and collect the tablers. Store your tablets in a tight closed container for further investigation in the next lab.
