1 Propitiation 1Jn 2:1-2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (2) And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1Jn 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,

2 Meaning of Propitiation
An atoning sacrifice offered to God to eliminate (assuage, reduce, or minimize) His wrath and make God proitious (appeased, favorable) to sinners, or simply put, a bearer of wrath 1Jn 2:2 And he (Jesus) is the propitiation for our sins

3 The Cup Mar 14: And they went to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray." (33) And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. (34) And he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch." (35) And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. (36) And he said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will."

4 God’s Wrath Job 21:20 His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty. Jer 25:15 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it. Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

5 Drinking the Cup: Beating
Mar 14:53, 65 And they led Jesus away. And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands. Mar 15: And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band. And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

6 Drinking the Cup: Beating
Luk 22: And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? Joh 19:3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

7 Result of Beating Isa 50:6 I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting. Isa 52:14 As many were astonished at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: Or in a newer translation Isa 52:14 (GW, God's Word) Many will be shocked by him. His appearance will be so disfigured that he won't look like any other man. His looks will be so disfigured that he will hardly look like a human. .

8 Drinking the Cup: Flogging
Joh 19:1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him (whipped, flogged). Mat 27:26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

9 Result of Flogging Psa 22: For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. (17) I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. (18) They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture..

10 Drinking the Cup: Crucifixion
Mat 27: And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and led him away to crucify him. As they went out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to carry his cross. Mat 27: And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots. (36) Then they sat down and kept watch over him there.

11 Results of Crucifixion
Joh 19: Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

12 Final Dregs: Death 2Co 5:21 For our sake he (Father) made him (Son) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Mat 27: Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ..."My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Joh 19:30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

13 Unforgiven Sin Joh 16:8 And when he (Holy Spirit) comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men.
