2 The sand lizard is very rare and only found in a few places in southern England where they are protected by law. The adults can grow up to 20cm. 3 Grass snakes can be found throughout England and Wales but not in Scotland or Ireland. They are grey-green in colour with a cream, yellow or light green belly and can grow up to 100 cm in length.
