2 What is Worship? To quicken the conscience by the holiness of God.

3 Worship: meaning “worthy of reverence and honor” – also “worth ship”
Liturgy: meaning “ministry or service” Cult: originally meant “harvest or cultivate” Terminology

4 Mystery – worship can bring about both mystery and revelation at the same time.
Celebration – worship can be a celebration of the acts of God in history. Life – worship is synonymous with life, worship should emanate through all acts of one’s life. Dialogue – worship takes place through dialogue with God with both revelation and response. It is an encounter or experience with God. Offering – worshippers offer and sacrifice their lives for their faith and obedience, it is an action, not just speech. Eschatological fulfillment – worship is the working out of salvation. Describing Worship

5 “If God is to be the priority of our lives, individual and corporate, then the activity that acknowledges God’s supremacy, worship, must be at the core of all the church does.” - pg. 8 Worship – not church growth – must be the church’s priority. God must be worshipped for God’s own glory and for nothing more or less. Reality in Worship
