In India, the policies with regard to Maritime Sector are formulated by the Ministry of Shipping. Various departments have been formed under the Ministry of Shipping, to oversee the implementation of these policies. Indian Maritime University is an autonomous body constituted under the Ministry of Shipping to oversee the research and training requirements of the Maritime Sector in India. This is the only Central University of India which has been formed especially for training and imparting knowledge to Maritime professionals required in the Maritime Sector. The Maritime Sector (both in India and abroad) is dependent on Institutions like ourselves for meeting with their Human Resource requirements.
