Recall that you can add or subtract fractions only if they have the same denominator. Thus, in order to subtract two fractions with different denominators, you must first rewrite each fraction using a common denominator. In order to do this, you will need to determine what that common denominator is and find an equivalent expression for each of the fractions using that common denominator.
