1 Wrt 205: critical research
Dr. Rusty Bartels Monday, April 8th, 2019 Week 12, Day 1

2 Overview Freewrite Small Groups Wrap-up

3 Freewrite If you had to describe your composition process, how would you describe it? What have you been taught about the composition process? How do these two things align, or not?

4 Bazerman we write in response to situations.
determines the genres that we compose in, who our audience includes, and the context we’re working from. we also will psychologically respond to different situations differently depending on our comfort level, knowledge level, experience level, etc.

5 Bazerman One of the things that comes up here is the idea that when working on longer projects that can’t be completed in a single sitting, how can we find a way to have constant low-key exposure? Part of this is a need each of us has to develop self-awareness of our focus, business, stimulation, engagement with a task so that we may self-manage — that we don’t overwork ourselves but that we are able to continuously come back to it (we don’t want to “binge and break”).

6 Small Groups Summarize section in your own words
Identify one quote that you feel is significant. Resistances to Writing ( ); Prompting and Accepting the Muse ( ); Trusting the Process ( ); Living with our Limitations ( )

7 Small Groups What do you understand the overall goal of this chapter to be? What is something that was presented — from your group or another — that you feel is helpful to hear at this point in your composition process? What is something discussed — either in your group’s section or the chapter overall — that you found helpful in reflecting on your composition process?

8 Wrap-up Today we: Used Bazerman to reflect on the composition process, considering how this might apply to our research project compositions Next time: Reading: none Focus: Peer Review Office hours today 1-3
