3 The Zimmermann Telegram
Germany knew the US would enter the war soon Germany sent a telegram to Mexico proposing an alliance against the US Intercepted by the British and released to US newspapers 3

4 Primary Source! Read through the Zimmermann Telegram in a pair or small group Together, answer these questions (on paper) 1. What territories was Mexico going to “re-conquer”? 2. What advantage(s) would Germany gain by Mexico entering the war? 3. Do you think Mexico should take the deal? 4

10 The End of the War 1918 – Germany was winning on the Western Front
But, US troops finally arrived – stopped the German advance and began pushing them back Germany was running out of men and supplies, while the US had plenty Germany surrendered on 11/11, 1918 Veteran’s Day! 10
