Analyze the meaning of the poem – what is the author saying? Is there any deeper meaning that you can pull out? Parris, Mrs. Putnam, Mr. Putnam Group three: Themes Group Four: Character Motivation Tituba, Abigail, Hale Group Five: Culture/time period Group six: Character Motivation John Proctor, Elizabeth proctor Within these groups, analyze your groups aspect of the play. Define each feature that your group has been assigned, and then analyze passages in the play that assist in defining the feature. You should write down your analysis, but also the lines in the text that help to define and defend your argument.

Get into groups of eight and begin reading Act II. Each person should take one of the roles above to read throughout the act. As you read, discuss the Proctor’s relationship and whether you feel they are on good terms. ACT II
