MCPHERSON Fort located in SW Atlanta in the city of East Point Encompasses approx. 487 acres Approx. 7 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Conveniently located on MARTA train and bus lines Chosen in most recent BRAC selection round in 2005 with plans for closure set for September 2011 2007 and 2010 Redevelopment Plans, ultimately adopted by the MRLA (established by the City Atlanta) Original Master plans affected by the Great Recession (08 & 09) and subject to changes in strategy

4 REFERENCING THE 2007 & 2010 REDEVELOPMENT PLANS: We agree that there should be a historical mixed use space (adaptive reuse and historical preservation efforts) Residential Space including both multi-family and single-family housing units and a community green space A high-density mixed use space located as close to MARTA as possible, creating a high accessibility space for business transients and residents alike Some component of recreation ground

6 MCFEARSOME PROPOSAL HIGH DENSITY MIXED USE AND EVENT SPACE -Accessible to local community, city as a whole, and many industries that choose to host business in Atlanta via MARTA -Science-based interactive Museum for children and adults -Commercial and Retail space allotted -Opportunity for local restaurants, bars, and cafés -Spaces to cater to local artists

8 MCFEARSOME PROPOSAL STEM EDUCATIONAL PARK -STEM Focused Magnet School (K-12) -Community College offering concentrations in STEM related fields -Focus on preparing students for the science, technology, and medical fields with emphasis on furthering education at Atlanta-based Universities -Georgia Institute of Technology -Emory University -Morehouse School of Medicine

9 EDUCATION & THE COMMUNITY Obama Administration Reform of the Elementary & Secondary Education Act -$1 billion in grants to states, school districts, and nonprofits -$300 million specifically allotted for competitive STEM grants -Within the $300 million in competitive grants to states are subgrants for high-need districts for improving STEM education, aligning it with standards that help ensure college and career readiness
