2 Lesson 1: Eastern Woodlands
The Iroquois created a league for decision making. Men were elected by women as representatives. The Great Council makes all the decisions in the league. Eastern Woodland provided rich resources for the Iroquois The forest provided food, shelter, and clothing. The animals also provided skins and furs for clothing Iroquios traditions They thank the animal they killed because they felt a connection to nature

3 Lesson 2: The Great Plains
The people in the plains live by hunting and farming The buffalo was important to the Plain people because it provided meat , clothing, blankets, and utensils for them. Cheyenne Horses changed the way they hunted buffalo They no longer had to hunt by foot, so it became easier for them. Plains and Iroquois hunting practice were similar because they both used natural resource to survive

4 Lesson 3: The Southwest Desert
The southwest desert region was mostly hot and arid The Hopi had a traditional dance in hopes to bring rain The people believe that the snake dance would bring them rain After the dance, they would release snake and the snakes would slither away, looking like streams of water.

5 Lesson 4: The Northwest Coast
The Northwest Coast was rich in resources Potlatch: “means to give away” Northwest coast held potlatch were the host gave away gift instead of the guest bring gifts The Kwakiutl believed that the shaman cure people Men and women could serve as shamans They performed dance ceremonies with special effects
