conducting a program to revitalize performance more seriously since 2013 (IT-based library) especially in giving more awareness to their role in helping researchers as a strategy to achieve the world-class standard of the university They are expected to become good and reliable partners of researchers able to promote the scholarly outputs of the university Priority is given to the enhancement of the skill and performance of librarians:

13 faculties (undergraduate 34 study programs, master 44 study programs, doctorate 13, vocational) AUN –QA certification: Faculty of Medicine 25,000 students 1-2% foreign students (mostly Malaysian) Financial support (university and government): limited

7 Traditional vs Specialized Role
Librarians are demanded not only able to conduct traditional roles as catalogers, system specialists, references become more specialized, such as domain specialist and data curators.

10 Condition of Academic Libraries
Present situation of academic libraries in Indonesia vary: ability to improve and enhance their performances depend on the support of administrators. Library of Universitas Indonesia in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Universitas Gajah Mada in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, have been started conducting many efforts to enhance its responsibility for some years now.

11 Collaborations: Academician, Business, Government
Libraries must be able to work with: domain specialists, computer and other information scientists to anticipate collaborations with industries and governments sectors through the rapid development of information and technology

12 Improvement Improving the role of librarians to enhance their scientific quality is the only way in the optimum utilization of libraries. In the era of global ASEAN community: improvements could be reached through exchange programmes arranged by AUN ILO, such as internship conducted throughout academic libraries within ASEAN countries.

13 Internship Previous benchmark activities have been conducted by some librarians of the Universitas Airlangga, and it is concluded that internship is necessary to improve their performances. Through such efforts, librarians are able to enhance their skills and broaden their mind.

14 Responsibility of Research Libraries

15 Librarian in a Research university
In giving support to achieve the goal of the research universities, libraries must be able to get involved in disseminating the research products, which include collecting, preserving and recording. Librarians demand to help researchers in every process of a research work, from assisting with citation management, assessing research impact through bibliometrics and citation analysis, to finding relevant published literature
