2 Learning Target: We will identify the structure and functions of government created by the Texas Constitution Language Objective: We will describe the structure and functions of government at municipal, county, and state levels. Success Criteria: I will analyze the major sources of revenue for state and local governments such as property tax, sales tax, and fees.

3 Federal Government Federal government is the government over the republic of fifty states that constitute the United States. The federal government is composed of three distinct branches: Legislative (Congress), Executive (President), and Judicial (Supreme Court). 5 State Government The state government consists of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Land Commissioner, Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner, etc. The three-member Texas Railroad Commission, the State Board of Education, and the Secretary of State.
