2 Why do it? It’s not always fair, but people often will remember the first impression you’ve made on them for a long time. It’s best to make it a good one! Employers will put a lot of stock into the impression you give.

3 What does it do for you? -Encourage others to see you in a positive light -Gain respect -Start off on the right foot

4 What about your employer?
-Your boss will know that you are a positive spokesperson for their business -They will know that you won’t embarrass them in front of other people

5 Components -First impression -Interacting with others
-Knowledge and ability

6 Making a First Impression
-Dress for the situation -Be well groomed -Good posture -Handshake -Eye contact

7 Interacting -Maintain eye contact -Speak clearly and loud enough
-Use “I hear you” cues (nodding, verbal responses) -Tact and courtesy (follow the rules of conversation -Stick to the topic

8 Knowledge and ability -Be logical -Listen intelligently
-Respond to what others say -Share what you know
