2 Raising Troops Selective Service Act- required all men age to register for the military draft. Next 18 months, 4 million men and women joined the armed forces.

6 Raising Troops Women served as nurses, radio operators, clerks, and stenographers.

7 Raising Money Liberty Bonds-American citizens were lending money to the government to pay for the war. Liberty Bonds raised $21 billion, just over half the cost of the war.

11 Public Opinion Anti-German prejudice was very prevalent in the U.S.
Pacifists- people who refuse to fight b/c they believe war is evil.

12 Public Opinion Socialist-believed that workers should benefit from war time business and not factory owners.

Bureaucracy- a system of managing government through departments. 1. Food Administration-job was to boost food production.
