1 USING CALIBRATIONS IN CSC SIMULATION
Rick Wilkinson (Thanks to Igor, Oana, Stan, Dominique, & Stoyan)!

2 Effects Fetched From Calibrations
Gains Pedestal Pedestal Width Correlated Noise Crosstalk

3 Gains DB has a slope (~6) and an intercept
I expected a number like 2 ADC/fC I use only the slope, with a fudge factor of 1/3 Gas gain is arbitrary, anyway. Am I treating ME1/1 right? Thinner chamber. DB gains are similar. Higher gas gain?

4 Pedestal Width and Correlated Noise
Off-peak samples: use pedestal widths ~ 1.5 – 2.5 ADC Convert to a one-sample noise in simulation Multiply by 2 On-peak samples: use noise matrix from DB Do I subtract out pedestal noise in quadrature? Noises applied to analog signal, before comparator.

5 Pedestal Width and Correlated Noise
Off-peak samples: use pedestal widths ~ 1.5 – 2.5 ADC Convert to a one-sample analog noise in simulation Multiply by sqrt(2) Convert to fC (divide by gain) On-peak samples: use noise matrix from DB Do I subtract out pedestal noise in quadrature?

6 Crosstalk Simulation models crosstalk as:
Constant times neighboring signal (resistive) Constant times the slope of the neighboring signal (capacitive) Crosstalk is measured as a linear fit: Crosstalk fraction = m * (t-tpeak) + b b is my resistive fraction, m proportional to capacitive.

7 Conclusion These effects are in the 1_5_0 cycle Easy to turn on
include "SimMuon/CSCDigitizer/data/muonCSCDbConditions.cfi” replace muonCSCDigis.stripConditions = "Database"
