Camera shots- Long shots
Extreme Long Shot: Wide view of mountain setting, cityscape expanse of desert etc.. Purpose: Emphasise space, granduer,spectacle,isolation Long Shot: Closer but shows whole scene. Human figures are clearly visible but fit easily within frame-.Still dominated by the background Purpose: Establishing shot, often at beginning of film sequence. Medium Long shot: Gives lots of information about setting, human characters can be seen in detail. Purpose: allows audience to see body language and also the way two people interact.

Close ups Medium Close-up
Not too close, but not too far. Typical frame for a newsreader. Purpose: used for reaction shots or conversations. Close up Shows detail of a subject. May just show a face or hand etc. Purpose: shows features in greater detail, underlines personality or emotion. EXTREME close up Shows portion of a detail or magnifies something minute eg. someone's eye or a significant prop detail. Purpose: can create a sense of mystery or tension.

Other shots High camera angle
Positioned high and tilted down at subject. Purpose: Makes subject look inferior or venerable-viewer feels superior. Low camera angle has the opposite effect. Over the shoulder shot Camera positioned behind the person, looking over the shoulder. Purpose: gives the viewers the feeling they are in the action.
