On behalf of the Slovenian Ministry of Defence, of Our Military Schools Centre I‘d like to extend an invitation to the next year‘s testing workshop which will take place in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. 1

The workshop will, as usual, take place in the first week of September, from Tuesday 4th till Thursday 6th September, with Monday and Friday before and after these dates being travel days.
The theme of the conference is not known yet at this point. 2 2

3. Kranjska Gora is a little town in the NW corner of Slovenia, very close to the border with both our northern and western neighbours Austria and Italy. It is 66 km or approximately an hour‘s drive away from Ljubljana airport. 3 3

4. Kranjska Gora
The NW part of Slovenia is mountainous, there are Julian Alps and the Karawanke mountains. Kranjska gora lies at the altitude of 820 m and is just at the doorstep of our biggest national park, Triglav national park, with Mt. Triglav being the park‘s and Slovenia‘s highest mountain.
In winter, Kranjska Gora is a popular ski resort, in summer time it‘s an ideal base for hikers and cyclists with it‘s many possibilities for hikes, serious mountain tours and with numerous cycling routes. 4 4

5. This is the venue of the workshop
This is the venue of the workshop. The hotel is called Lek and it used to be owned by a Slovenian farmaceutical company called Lek, then the company was bought by a Swiss group Novartis and the hotel was put up for sale. I don‘t know who owns it now, but it still operates under its former name. It is situated on the outer edge of the town, but it will take you only ten minutes to reach the center on foot. There is also a scenic lake 15 minutes away from here, on foot again. 5 5

6. Some additional images of the place – Kranjska Gora down-town, the lake I mentioned before. It‘s a beautiful, small glacial lake. If you go for a stroll there you can enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.
I‘ve also mentioned before that cycling is possible around Kranjska gora. You can rent a bike and cycle along pleasant bike past to see the surroundings of the town.
This is Planica and our ski – flying and ski - jumping facilities. The nordic ski center in Planica hosts the World Cup Competitions in Ski Flying in March every year and it‘s almost a national holiday for Slovenians. Many of them take days off at that time and attend every single series of jumps/flights during the three-day event. 6 6
