Label your Map! Use the labeled map on the screen to label each of the 13 colonies and the ocean on your blank map:

Thinking Question All of the original 13 colonies were located along the coast because… being near the Atlantic Ocean gave the colonies easier access to trade routes.

The 3 Colonial Regions In your map, use the colored pencils to shade in BLUE for the New England colonies, GREEN for the Middle colonies, and YELLOW for the Southern colonies.

ACTIVITY: Create a foldable!
Use the dotted lines as guides for where to fold your paper. Cut along the lines that say “cut here” When you finish, you should have a 3-flap foldable, with the bottom edge visible for labeling. Label the sections as shown in the picture: New England Colonies Middle Colonies Southern Colonies

Foldable Information:
Use the outlined colonies to cut out each colonial region. Glue the appropriate cutout onto the front flap of your colonial foldable. On the top half of the foldable flap, write the sentence that will help you remember that region’s colonies! On the bottom half of the foldable flap, write the names of each colony in that region.
