4. FCPS FY2019 Proposed Budget

$2.9 billion School Operating Fund budget - 4.3% increase over the FY Approved Budget – 86% towards instructional programs
4.9% requested increase – 96.9 million
School Board has scheduled public hearing for January 29 (30-31 as needed) to hear from residents
FCCPTA urges members to reserve speaking slots to share their stories about their students, teachers, schools, and communities

8. National PTA 2018 Legislative Conference
National PTA 2018 Legislative Conference – March 13-15, 2018 – Arlington, VA and Capitol Hill, Washington, DC – Register at
PTA members from all across the country and Europe will be able to meet, engage, and share best practices.
Members will be able to meet, engage, and build relationships with their federal elected officials on Capitol Hill
Members will learn more about new federal education law - Every Student Succeeds Act – implementation
Learn about other issues of interest, including Statewide Family Engagement Centers, career and technical education reauthorization, child nutrition.

For all PTA members

10. NOVA District PTA Event – February 6
NOVA District PTA awarded a National PTA grant to host Safer Internet National Day on Tuesday, February 6! 
Only 1 of 4 states to host this event
Grant provided by LifeLock and their Smart Talk program offered to PTA members across the nation. 
Panel forum at Luther Jackson Middle School auditorium at 7 p.m. with complimentary dinner being served at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.
