4 INTRODUCTION Control Valves are used in most KenGen plants. The valves are used to control fluid flow by varying the size of the flow passage as directed by a signal from the controller. This enables control of pressure, level and flow rate via opening or closing.

6 INTRODUCTION CON’T HART Communication Protocol (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer) is a hybrid analog+digital industrial automation open protocol. HART is able to use 4-20 mA systems by superimposing digital communications on top of the 4-20 mA analog signal without disrupting it. The technology is also employed by other equipment for example Level, Pressure and Temperature transmitters.

7 Hart devices More Portable HART communication devices include HART 275,374 or 475 with an almost 80cm connector cable.

16 SOLUTION HART device management has been made much easier now through the introduction of a HART communication app. The Bluetooth wireless interface between the HART modem and any Windows, Android and iOS (APPLE). device provides user safety and comfort because there are no wires to tangle or trip over.
