1 Knockmore Primary School
2018 The Journey So Far Good Afternoon, I am proud to be able to give to you an overview of what the school has achieved over the past 3 years. As some of you will already know, the school has undergone many changes in the past three years. New Principal and Vice Principal, permanent staffing structure in place, re-definition of roles and responsibilities reflecting the Principal’s vision for distributed leadership and of course, today, a new team of governors. Knockmore has gone through a vast period of change and much has been accomplished by the school staff and pupils. We have always throughout this journey been extremely well supported by the BOG. Ms Hardwick, as part of her efforts to evaluate the school development has put together a summary booklet for the staff, parents and BOG in order to highlight the achievements over the past three years and today I am going to compliment this booklet by looking into a few areas in more detail. I will be very happen to take questions at the end of the presentation or indeed throughout. We also have a few experts in the room such as Mrs Gedis, assessment coordinator and of course Ms Hardwick should any of the questions be too tricky!

2 Evidence Based Approach to School Improvement
High Quality Data Analysis Online Assessment – Complete Digital Solution – Introduced in 2016 Staff Surveys Parent Staff – Teaching and Classroom Assistants Pupil Learning Areas Positive Behaviour Management Dedicated school development days given over in order to perform high quality analysis – bringing all staff together and ensuring a smooth handover – expertly led by our assessment coordinator. Online assessment – no easy feat given lack of a computer suite and accommodation issues – inventive as we are – space in the portacabin All of our stakeholders are important and we take on board and value their opinion. They help us to determine the direction of our school. List surveys – Greater depth later.

3 Revised Model for Learning Support
SEN Panel introduced Fun Maths and Literacy in the afternoon Targeted Newcomer Support Targeted Intervention Plans and Learning Portfolios for each pupil Close liaison with class teacher Evaluation of all support AQE support – four hours per week – shared between class teachers and VP

4 Parental Survey – Term 1 - 2018
Extremely Positive Response to all questions raised – see questionnaire document for precise statistics for each statement. 94.8% of respondents fully supported the school 2.6% of respondents disagreed with the statements 2.6% of respondents were unsure Helpful suggestions raised including; Having the parent/teacher interview earlier in the year! I wouldn’t have time to go through all of our surveys – however, the outcomes are evident in our action plans and targeted areas for the new SDP. Refer to the booklet with stats. 75 families responded – 43% Anonymous represents 2 parents The unsure parents had only enrolled and were not sure about many of the questions. Extremely positive – some food for thought – feed into the next SDP – priority area is partnership with parents.

5 Encouraging Results – Adding Value
+20 +12 +20 +24 +20 +11 +10 Just some of the great results. To maintain or even move up a few points shows progress. This is super success. All pupils also have a personalised intervention plan and fully evaluated portfolio – pass one around. +9 +15 +12

14 Classroom Assistant Survey Results 17 Assistants
I enjoy my role as a classroom assistant. 100% Yes I feel valued in my role as a classroom assistant. I feel confident in carrying out my role. I feel supported in carrying out my role. 100% yes Carried out in the first term.

15 Added Comments Every teacher and every classroom assistant and Principal and Vice Principal supports one another and are treated the same. Strengths include the inclusivity of different nationalities, wide range of before/after school activities and the constant care of the children, both indoors and outdoors. Everyone is included. All children are listened to and every chance is given to supply needs to all children even those with challenging behaviour. A very caring, family school. I feel my teacher is approachable and I feel Andrea and David are approachable if I have concerns or problems. I really appreciate the understanding I have been shown whenever I have had any problems with my children when they are ill etc.

16 Added Comments (Continued)
Improvement – Training for emotional disorders. More staff trained on team teach as this would allow us to feel we could manage challenging behaviour and have the skills to promote the child’s emotional well being in minimising crisis mode. Uniforms!
