2 A. Constitution Basics Federal government structure – three branches:
Executive – Legislative – Judiciary – Who are in these branches, and what is their purpose? Makes the federal government stronger than the state governments. How is this different from the Articles of Confederation?

3 B. Divided Support Not all people were happy with the U.S. Constitution. Federalists – people who supported the Constitution Anti-Federalists- voted against the Constitution Basic beliefs: 1) 2)

4 Guided Practice Read the two documents. Underline words you would like me to explain to you. As you read, fill in the graphic organizer that came with the document.

5 C. Bill of Rights Anti-Federalists wishes – a direct statement of their individual rights that the government can’t take away. Federalists make a deal – if the Anti- Federalists support the Constitution, they will pass a Bill of Rights later on. Bill of Rights – first 10 amendments to the Constitution.
