Great communicator that requires minimal input from its users
Fire fighters accept or decline via the BART Team App
Brigade Officers & Group Duty Officers (GDO) can view numbers responding
If more resources are needed, GDO can respond another brigade
Example: BART’s assistance in a 2018 Structural Fire
Despite plenty of crew responding, we could see that we lacked qualified BA operators
The alarm level was upgraded, which resulted in less damage to the house
Prior to a Total Fire Ban
Captains send out a pager message asking for crew availability for the following day
Crew respond with thumbs up or thumbs down
GDO can quickly see response numbers from all brigades

APPLIANCES – AUTOMATIC VEHICLE LOCATOR (AVL)
We have installed Android tablets into or appliances (Australian Design Rules compliant), so we can use BART to navigate to the incident
Our crews use the staging options below, to show their vehicle status:
This is useful for:
Showing when an appliance is ‘on-scene’ at an incident
Finding fireground resources, like bulk water carriers
We use Telstra ‘data-only’ plans, which costs around $50 for 5GB with a 365 day expiry

13. TRACKING
APPLIANCES – AUTOMATIC VEHICLE LOCATOR (AVL)

Notice the incident location (which is the red cross)
A Lenswood appliance has arrived on scene, and has changed their status to ‘Arrived’
Another appliance is approaching the fire along a different track, to attack the fire
Notice it’s ‘En-Route’ status.
