draft Decision 3.2(1)/1 — Participation in IOC objectives;
Recalling two key decisions: IOC’s Medium Term Strategy , and IOC’s adoption of an International (UN) Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development
Noting the work of the Commission in contributing to the work of IOC’s global functions and regional structures
Decides: to (1) continue to identify JCOMM’s contributions to IOC’s work, including through appropriate regional mechanisms, and (2) to actively participate in the development of the Decade

3. Review of key decision from IOC governing bodies influencing JCOMM Document 3.2(1)
draft Decision 3.2(1)/2 — Participation in the work of other IOC programmes and co-sponsored programmes;
Recalling decisions on related programmes in ocean observation (GOOS), ocean data (IODE), tsunamis and other coastal hazards, and bathymetric data
Noting the development of a GOOS Strategy and the concept for an IOC Ocean Data and Information System (ODIS)
Decides: to (1) support implementation of GOOS, (2) participate actively in the development of the concept for ODIS (3) facilitate the development of multi-hazard coastal warning systems, and (4) promote collection and availability of bathymetric data
