6. POPULAR VOTE vs. ELECTORAL VOTE Popular Vote-Number of votes counted directly for the president If the presidential nominee wins the popular vote in the state, they earn the number of electoral votes in that state!

7. For EXAMPLE The majority of people in WI that vote in 2012 have chosen Obama. The Democratic electors (in JANUARY) promise to vote in support of Barack Obama and present their votes at the state capital. Obama receives 10 electoral votes from WI.
