1 Day 49 Agenda: DG minutes

2 Unit #6: Graphs and Inverses of Trig Functions
Accel Precalc Unit #6: Graphs and Inverses of Trig Functions Lesson 1: The Unit Circle EQ: How is the unit circle used to evaluate the exact values for the six trig functions?

3 Recall: Given a circle whose center is at the origin and radius is 1. Write the equation of this circle. This circle is called the Unit Circle.

4 The Unit Circle has 48 missing parts
The Unit Circle has 48 missing parts. You are going to learn ALL OF THEM!!!

5 I. Angles on the Axes (0, 1) Place the degree measures of the angles on each axis. 90⁰ Place the radian measure of the angles on each axis. (-1, 0) 180⁰ 0⁰ (1, 0) 360⁰ State the coordinates of the points at each angle. 270⁰ (0, -1)

6 Recall: What is the relationship between the legs and the hypotenuse of a 45 - 45 - 90 triangle? But on the Unit Circle the radius is the hypotenuse and it is 1. How can I make the hypotenuse of this right triangle equal 1?

7 Place the degree measures at each angle.
Reference Angle of 45 Place the degree measures at each angle. 135⁰ 45⁰ Place the radian measure at each axis. State the coordinates of the points at each angle. 225⁰ 315⁰

8 Recall: What is the relationship between the legs and the hypotenuse of a 30- 60- 90 triangle? Again, on the Unit Circle the radius is the hypotenuse and it is 1. How can I make the hypotenuse of this right triangle equal 1?

9 Place the degree measures at each angle.
Reference Angle of 30. Place the degree measures at each angle. 30⁰ 150⁰ Place the radian measure at each axis. 330⁰ 210⁰ State the coordinates of the points at each angle.

10 Place the degree measures at each angle.
II. Reference Angle of 60. Place the degree measures at each angle. 120⁰ 60⁰ Place the radian measure at each axis. State the coordinates of the points at each angle. 240⁰ 300⁰

11 And that, ladies and gentlemen is your Unit Circle!!
