2 IMPORTANT VOCABULARY Decimal- a number with a decimal point separating the ones from the tenths place. Percent- the ratio that compares a number to 100. Conversion- the act of changing from one use or function or purpose to another.

3 Rules for Decimal to Percent
Multiply Decimal by 100 ****A trick to doing this is to take the decimal point, and move it two places to the right. Then, just add in your percent sign********

4 Rules for Percent to Decimal
Divide Your Percent by 100. ****A trick to doing this is to take the decimal point in your percent, and move it two places to the left. Then, just take away the percent sign.********

5 Since we are dealing with decimals we are going to go over our decimal place value chart so you know how to read you answers correctly.

6 INTERESTING MATH FACT!!!! Even though you have converted your decimal to a percent, your percent can still be a decimal. Take this for example. x100= %

7 Now it’s time to show you how to convert decimals to percents and percents to decimals. Let’s open up activinspire to apply these rules to some examples!

8 Convert 1.7342 to a Percent and Choose the Correct Answer

9 Convert 72% to a Decimal and Choose the Correct Answer
