1 Thursday, October 16th, 2014 Target: Students will read Act 3 and analyze character development They will also continue their work on the theme project which helps them see the theme development. Standards: Read closely and determine ideas Activator: What is a run-on? Work: Act 3 scene 3 and 4 (what did you do yesterday) Closing: Othello in 3 minutes

2 Pop Quizzzz 1) In Act 3 scene 1 what does Cassio want to do? Why is it so important to Iagos plan? 2) In scene 3 Desdemona promises Cassio something. What was this promise? 3) What would Iago say it wasn't Cassio that left Desdemonas room? 4) Explain to me what Desdemons and Othellos fight was about. 5) Finally, what happened towards the end of your reading? What did Iago say about Barbantios warning?

3 Answers 1) He wants to be alone with Desdemona so he can plead to have his job back. Iago can have Othello see that they are spending a lot on alone time together. 2) She said she is going to do everything in her power to get Cassio's job back. 3) He stated that the guy that walk out of the room look too guilty to be Cassio. This plants ideas in Othellos head for later on. 4) Desdemona wants Othello to talk to Cassio about what happened. Othello gets upset and tells her to leave him. 5) Iago tells Othello about his suspicion about Desdemona cheating on him with Cassio. Iago brought back up that Desdemona lied to her father, so she can lie to Othello.

4 Let’s check those papers
What is a run-on?! Well it happens when you put two sentences that could STAND ON THEIR OWN together. A memoir is composed of many different parts, they have flashbacks, a complex issue or even a issue! How can we fix this run-on? Alright, remember this when you are re-doing your papers!

5 Theme project Everyone will be assigned a theme and a group.
Pick the paper, get with your group, and have a new seat! Take out a piece of paper and jot down where you see this theme in Act 1 and Act 2 You will find quotes for these tomorrow.

6 Back to reading! This time we are going to do it on audio!
Please turn to Act 3 scene 2 (you should have stopped in the middle)

7 Closing Othello in 3 minutes!
