Volcanoes By Anjana, Ellen and Emily

2 About 25 volcanoes erupted one time.
What is a volcano? About 25 volcanoes erupted one time. Volcanoes are plateaus that have magma inside. Volcanoes are openings in the earth. When magma comes up, it is called lava. Magma comes from the mantle. Tectonic plates helps rise magma. The top of a volcano is curved in. If a volcano has layers of harden lava… it’s called a Strato Volcano Magma is liquid that flows inside it.

3 What causes a volcano? Magma rushes up with bubbles to lava.
A volcano is caused by pressure of dissolved gas that builds magma, if the volcano can’t take it, it erupts. When plates move, magma rises to melt. Volcanoes form near tectonic plates. Mantle forms magma which is much more dense, so it rises. The Ring of Fire has the most active volcanoes in the world. Magma only forms in tectonic plates. Most volcanoes form on the edges of a continent. What is the most dangerous kind of jewelry? The Ring Of Fire

4 What are the effects of a volcano?
Lava that cools quickly makes obsidian. Volcanoes can kill a lot of people. The heat can melt rocks into a liquid or mold. Ash + soil= rich soil. Eruptions can shoot poisonous air and ashes. Some eruptions have knocked down many forests. An erupting volcano can trigger tsunamis, flash floods, earth quakes, mud flows, and rock falls.

5 How can you survive in a volcano?
When eruptions happen stay away from it as far as you can. Wear googles to protect your eyes Try your best to evacuate. BE WARE eruptions can happen without warnings, so for your safety. Food, water, medicine, flashlights, and radios should be in a disaster kit. Houses can be buried in eruptions (lava, ash, or lahar).

6 Dictionary Magma- Rocks that are melted under ground.
Mantle- Deep inside the earth that makes magma. Obsidian- A rock formed by lava that cools quickly. Lahar-A mudslide of water, ash, and soil.
