2 The American Obesity Epidemic
A.M.A. Declares Obesity is now a “Disease”. (July, 2013) - 75% of Americans are Overweight or Obese - 50 % of Americans will be “Obese” by 2025 There’s no question that we have a Weight Epidemic. In fact 75% of Americans are Overweight or Obese. “Overweight” or “Obese” is determined by your BMI. BMI = body mass index. More important is the relationship between your BMI and risk of death or mortality. BMI is associated with your risk of dying. If your BMI is between 20-26, you’re at minimal risk- as your BMI increases so does your risk of DEATH. Now let me see a show of hands of how many people know what their BMI is? (not many) Right !!! Isn’t this something you should know, because it’s directly related to your chances of DYING ??? 57 Million are Pre-Diabetic due to Weight Issues. $117 Billion annually spent on health related Obesity Problems.

3 Obesity Health Hazards
OVERWEIGHT People are > 2x as likely to DIE early. OBESITY is linked to the TOP 3 Causes of DEATH: Heart Disease and Stroke High Blood Pressure Cancer Now, being overweight or considered clinically obese is not simply cosmetic. So it’s important to know that being overweight is literally killing you. Sex hormone imbalances will cause cancer and eventually your death. Increased fats in your blood stream will eventually cause insulin imbalances, blood pressure problems, T-2 diabetes & heart problems. Mechanical stress is near and dear to me as a chiropractor. Who here wants to age faster, get cancer and die from a heart attack? Right, no one. -Then losing fat weight is something we MUST DO for ourselves. Remember, ¾ of us need it because 75% of us are Overweight. Now all of you know that I always talk about the 3 leading causes of death. Heart disease, cancer, prescription drugs and soon to be Diabetes. Well it’s pretty interesting to note that obesity is linked to every single one and more. More shocking than all of this is that according to the Mayo Clinic, a simple 5-10% reduction in weight is proven to slash your rick of disease by as much as 50%. ** How many of you in would like to follow our simple program over the course of 40 days, lose 5-10% of your weight and slash your Risk of Disease by 50% ??? Overweight Risk %: Heart Attack  360% Premature Death  110% High Blood Pressure  260% Gallstones  270% Degenerative Arthritis  400% Type 2 Diabetes  2,660% If you’re overweight, reducing your weight by only 5% - 10% decreases your chance of developing disease by as much as 50 %. -Mayo Clinic The reality is that Weight problems are simply KILLING us. Over the past 20 years, the number of children who are overweight has increased by more than 50%. It’s been predicted that kids born after the year 2000 are not expected to outlive their parents if things continue the way they’re going. How sick do we have to be- to continue allowing such devastation? Life expectancy will decline by as much as 5 years unless aggressive efforts are made. This is why a Physician Assisted Program is recommended over all other models of weight loss. This is crazy- in 2000, 400,000 deaths were related to obesity. That same year, 435,000 deaths were related to tobacco. That means that for any of you who believe that smoking is unhealthy and causes disease…being overweight is just as gross and unhealthy for you as smoking. According to Stanford, skinny fat is on the rise. Skinny fat is when you have an individual who otherwise looks thin, has a low body weight, but has excess abnormal fat or visceral fat. So not even “skinny” people are safe.

5 Weight Loss vs. Fat Loss 3 Types of FAT When wanting to “Lose Weight”,
Now here’s the thing. Does everyone in here want to lose weight or lose fat? What’s important to understand is that your goals are typically fat loss rather than weight loss. Now there’s 3 types of fat- Structural – good for padding your cells Normal – reserved for fuel for a rainy day. In other words, 40,000 years ago when human roamed the Earth, we didn’t have access to the amount of food that we do today. In fact, back then you had to work for your food and most often you were in a state of fasting or minimal starvation. So we were designed to take any excess energy and turn it into fat for storage. This normal fat is a completely normal state. However, today is much different than 40,000 years ago. Today we find ourselves in a state of excess energy- almost daily, which means that your fat stores fill up- and your body then begins to store “abnormal” fat. Abnormal fat is that flap that you see in the back your arms. Ladies, abnormal fat is the fat you see between your thighs and the parts of your bottom that you don’t like. Now what happens is much like a bank where you make deposits. Every day you make a small deposit. And this small deposit is readily available should you ever need it. But as your deposits get bigger and bigger, the banker (your body) will say, “Hey, we should put your deposits into a savings bond”. The problem is that savings bonds are not as easy to access and release as a simple deposit. And that’s why it’s so difficult to lose abnormal fat- it’s stored in such a way that traditional weight loss programs cannot access. When wanting to “Lose Weight”, we really mean that we want to lose “Abnormal” Fat.

We’ve always been told that FAT is the enemy! But, were told to eat …SUGAR ! - Bread and rice - Pasta and potatoes - Corn Over time, we have become efficient at burning Sugar for Energy, and less efficient at Burning FAT for Energy. That means for years you’ve been eating sugar and burning sugar and what the body is exposed to repeteadly it becomes efficient at. So what’s happened to us is that we are no fat burners but sugar burners. And tell me again, what you’re wanting to get rid of? Fat. But you can’t, because you’re not a fat burner. Now what we know today is that sugar burners have imbalances in hormones called Leptin and Ghrelin.
