Ellipse Definition: Each fixed point F is a focus of an ellipse (plural: foci). The major axis is the segment that contains the foci and has its endpoints on the ellipse. The endpoints of the major axis are vertices of the ellipse. The midpoint of the major axis is the center of the ellipse. The minor axis is perpendicular to the major axis at the center. The endpoints of the minor axis are co-vertices.
