Antibiotic resistance – recombinant insert contains gene for resistance antibiotics such as ampicillin Recombinant insert breaks apart β-galactosidase gene; Add X-Galactose → produces blue product when hydrolyzed; cells WITH DNA of interest remain WHITE, cells without desired DNA insert will be blue.
