1 Small Group Meetings FAQ Sheet
What are they? Small group meetings are a chance for us to have smaller “roundtable like” discussions during class and for me to see if you are understanding the content. How many people will be in a small group discussion? No more than 5 students will be in a small group meeting at a time. Why are we doing small group meetings? This is a way for us to discuss topics you are investigating and a way for me to see how well you are mastering the content. It will also be a great time for you to ask any questions you have about the given topic. How many small group meetings will there be? You will sign up for (and participate in) 3 small group meetings: Constitutional Convention, Articles of Confederation vs. Constitution, & We the People. How long will they last? A small group meeting should last about 20 minutes (no more than 30 minutes).

2 How do I sign up? There is a sign-up sheet at the front of the room.
How do I prepare? Just make sure you have at least completed the lesson that goes with the small group topic. (Example: for the Constitutional Convention small group, make sure you do the Constitutional Convention Small Group Q&A beforehand) What happens if I don’t participate? Small group is a type of formative assessment (to show if you have understanding and mastery of the content). If you don’t participate in a small group, I will not know if you have mastered the content, therefore I will have to assess you another way. Is small group the same thing as a debate? No! In small group, we are just discussing and sharing our knowledge of the content!
