1 Combined Gas Law and Dalton’s Partial Pressure Law
Chapter 12

2 The Combined Gas Law It combines the previous three laws in the following mathematical expression: P1 x V P2 x V2 = T T2

3 Sample Problem The volume of a gas filled balloon is L at C and 153 kPa pressure . What volume will the balloon have at standard temperature and pressure?

4 Dalton’s Law of Partial Pressure
The pressure exerted by a gas in a mixture is unaffected by the presence of the other gases. The total pressure of gases is the sum of the partial pressures of its components.

5 Dalton’s Law The mathematical expression is Pt = P1 + P2 + P3 + ……

6 Sample Problem A gas mixture containing oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide has a total pressure of kPa. If PO2 = 6.6 kPa and PN2 = 23.0 kPa, What is PCO2?
