--one of the judges from the trial lived in this house (the witches themselves did not practice here).

The house still stands today. It is a tourist site because it is one of the only buildings still standing from the witch trial.

Concern over witchcraft originated n Europe in the 1300s and 1400s. After the trials Salem changed its name to Danvers A fungus found in rye, wheat, and cereal called Ergot could have caused the behavior.

11 Some believe Salem’s food was contaminated with ergot because the fungus would have thrived in a warm and damp climate such as Salem. Eating contaminated food can cause muscle spasms, vomiting, delusions, hallucinations

13 Cotton Mather This is what happened to Cotton Mather: (he had 3 wives and 15 children) He was always looked at as being a rabid witch-hunter. His initial writing brought attention to the witch trials and be never repented for what happened throughout them.
