I researched California because that’s where I was born!

3. California’s State Tree
The state tree is the Redwood. There are many Redwood trees in Northern California. They are so big that you can drive through some of them!!

4. California’s State Bird
The state bird is the quail.
It’s very fat, isn’t it!!

5. California’s State Flag
The California state flag has a star and a bear on it!
There used to be many bears in California.
…like Kumamoto?!

6. California’s State Motto and Nickname
"Eureka...I have found it!"
The state motto is “Eureka…I have found it!” because gold was discovered in San Francisco in 1848.
The nickname is “the golden state” for the same reason!
