HINT: Germany invaded Belgium, even though Belgium wanted to remain neutral (not involved in the war). Britain saw Germany’s invasion of Belgium as a declaration of war. Task: According to the article, why did Britain (England) declare war on Germany? Write your answer on your answer sheet.

5 In what year were the most women working?
HINT: This chart shows what percentage of the workforce were women before, during, and after the war. For example, in 1914, women were 24% of the workforce. Before the war (1914) what percentage of the workforce (all workers) were women? During the war (1918) what percentage of the workforce (all workers) were women? After the war (1920) what percentage of the workforce (all workers) were women? In what year were the most women working? Why were more women working during the war? Write your answers on your answer sheet.

Task: Pretend you are a British citizen. Create a propaganda poster that shows British citizens what they can do to help win the war. Use words and pictures on your poster. Write “attached” in the box on your answer sheet and staple your propaganda poster to the back.

7 Huns - a negative name used for Germans during the war.
These posters were designed to anger the British and make Germans look evil. Task: Pretend you are a British citizen. Create a propaganda poster against Germany. Your poster should use pictures and words designed to make British citizens angry at Germany. Write “attached” in the box on your answer sheet and staple your propaganda poster to the back.
