1 Bell Ringer A figure has vertices A(2,2), B(6,4), C(-2,3), and D(-1,5). The image of this figure is a rotation of 90° clockwise. What is A’? What is B’? What is C’? What is D’?

2 Announcement Your test will be on THURSDAY, Nov 20. It will cover:
Section 1.4 “Ordered Pairs and Relations” Section 2.6 “Graphing in Four Quadrants” Section 2.7 “Translations and Reflections” Section 6.8 “Dilations” Section 11.3 “Rotations” Lesson 8: “Congruence and Transformations” You will have a laptop check on FRIDAY, Nov. 21

3 Homework Review

4 Lesson 8 Similarity and Transformations
R drive > Key > Week 15 > Monday > Lesson 8 PowerPoint Continued File > Save As > P drive > Math > Week 15 <

5 Notes Recall that a dilation changes the size of a figure by a scale factor. Since the size of a figure is changed, the image and the pre-image are NOT CONGRUENT. Two figures are SIMILAR if the second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of transformations and dilations.

6 Similar Figures A dilation is always similar to the original figure; that is, the corresponding angles are congruent and the corresponding side measures are proportional.

7 How to Write Ratios Comparing the Lengths of Sides
Step 1: Write the side length of one triangle over the corresponding side length of the other triangle. Step 2: Then, do the same the other sides of the figure. Step 3: If they all simplify to the same fraction, them the figures are similar.

8 Open Core Math Tools Again and click on the Coordinate App again
