A total of 6 sessions of activities (each lasting 1hr 10mins) will take place each day (4 activities for Dearne Valley), plus one final session. To ensure the safety off all taking part, students will be split into groups of no more than 15, all of which are led by a fully qualified Kingswood instructor and a teacher. This brings groups sizes well within LEA guidelines of 1 to 10. As it is important to build confidence and self-belief, all students are given plenty of encouragement and praise during activities - they are NEVER forced to take part if they are not comfortable in doing so. While other schools may also be present on centre during your stay, all programmes and activities are conducted separately. Groups will have the opportunity to mix during The Social Sundown.

Home away from home • All dormitories are warm, comfortable and 100% secure. • Girls and boys sleep in completely separate areas and teachers rooms are located close by to allow for plenty of close supervision. There will be a maximum of four Windy Nook pupils in each dormitory. • All bedding is provided on centre - one of the very first tasks for all children is making up their own beds! • Separate showers and toilet facilities are available for girls and boys. Just as at school, Kingswood cannot guarantee 100% safety for personal items brought onto centre and they will not be covered by insurance. It is therefore advisable to leave valuables – cameras, mobiles, iPods, MP3 players, computer games, jewellery - at home. A clearly named disposable camera is acceptable. Food glorious food! It’s important for students to maintain high energy levels throughout their stay, so 3 freshly-prepared, healthy cafeteria-style meals are served in our communal dining area every day. A varied choice is always offered, with both hot and cold meals, a salad bar, at least one vegetarian option and yes, sometimes even chips! Plenty of juice and water is available at all times. Most dietary requirements can be catered for as long as we are told in advance - forms will be issued to the school prior to your visit for this purpose and to establish any medical needs. Other info! Children need to be in the Hall for 8:15am (parents are welcome to wave us off). We will be leaving school at around 9:00am. There will be an opportunity for parents to pass any medical information over to a member of staff - children are not allowed to take care of their own medication. You will receive regular text messages. On the day of return we will leave Kingswood at 1:15pm and return to school for approximately 2:30pm. See it for yourself! We have a short DVD highlighting the experience that our guests have at Kingswood. If the film does not play on Windows Media Player, check that the hyperlink location is correct: The film must be saved in the same folder location as the presentation Make sure you are in the editing screen on Powerpoint (not whilst in full screen presentation mode). Click on the blue text so a box is highlighted around the text. Right click and select Edit Hyperlink from the drop down menu. Find the folder location with the film in it and select the correct film (the file name should appear in the Address box at the bottom of the pop up window). Click on OK. Go back into full screen presentation mode and the link should now work.
