1 CTE Transitions Formerly Tech Prep

2 About CTE Transitions The CTE Transitions program provides academic and vocational preparation in a career pathway. CTE Transitions students begin their program of study in a high school and then transition into post Palomar College, UC’s, or CSU’s to earn an advanced technical degree or certification. Career pathways are academically rigorous and provide students with not only the fundamental skills that are required for post College admission but also the technical skills that will enable them to have successful careers in California's new, highly technical economy. Students can earn college credits for specific CTE Transitions tech prep courses taken in high school that will transfer to certificate and degree programs at Palomar College. Students do not pay for high school CTE Transitions Tech Prep courses so they save on College tuition. Students also save time by not having to repeat those courses when they enroll in college certificate or degree programs.

3 What is Articulation Articulation is a process which links a high school and college course in order to help students avoid experiencing a delay in or duplication of learning. It allows high school students to receive college credit and/or advanced placement for articulated classes taken in high school. By encouraging enrollment in both high school and post-secondary education, articulation provides an incentive for students to continue their education, reduces costs to the student and minimizes needless duplication of coursework.

4 An Articulation Includes…
