2. Matter Definition - Anything and everything that exist
Example – A banana

3. Chemistry Definition – The study of all matter and chemical reactions
Example – A biologist

4. Physical property
Definition – The property of an object that has to do with the appearance of it
Example – The color of an apple being red

5. Chemical property
Definition – The property of an object that has to do with something on the atomic level , or the makeup of that object
Example – The element hydrogen has 1 electron

6. Physical Change
Definition – When an object changes and it has something to do with the objects appearance
Example – Crumpling a piece of paper

7. Chemical Reaction
Definition – The process that leads one substance into another
Example – Granulated sugar-Caramel

8. Precipitate Definition – A possible product from a chemical reaction
Example – When ____ and ___ combine they make a precipitate

9. Endothermic reaction
Definition – A process in which an object absorbs energy from its surroundings
Example – A pot getting heated from the stove

10. Exothermic Reaction
Definition – A process in which an object gives off heat to its surroundings
Example – The human body giving off heat

11. Chemical equation
Definition – The representation of a chemical reaction between compounds
Example – 3 H2O – (Au3)7

12. Reactant Definition – The material present before a chemical reaction
Example – Sugar before turning into caramel

13. Product Definition – The material present after a chemical reaction
Example – Caramel after sugar

14. Conservation of mass
Definition – The theory that the mass of an isolated object will stay the same over time
Example – In our closed chambers (the ones that worked) the mass of sugar never changed

15. Open system Definition – A system that is open , not closed
Example – A cup is a open system

16. Closed system Definition – A system that is closed , not open
Example – The systems that me made in science

17. Coefficient Definition – A multiplicative factor of another number
Example – 5x

18. Synthesis
Definition - The combining of separate elements or substances to form a coherent whole
Example – Hydrogen and Oxygen combining

19. Decomposition
Definition - The process by which organic material is broken down into simpler forms of matter
Example – A body decomposes back into its original elements

20. Replacement Definition - The act of something getting replaced
Example – An old door being replaced with a new one
