Maximum Heart Rate Your maximum heart rate is 220 bpm (beats per minute) minus your age. E.g. A 33 year old max HR is: 220 – 33 = 187. If your heart beats faster than your maximum you risk permanent damage to the muscle and possible heart failure

Resting HR Your resting heart rate is best taking when you wake up in the morning without having undergone any gross body movements. It is also more accurate if you are lying down.

Fitness Your ability to recover from exercise is determined by your fitness level. We can measure this by finding out how long it takes for us to return to our resting heart rate. The fitter you are, the quicker you will recover.

Recovery Test Measure your resting Heart rate and record.
Perform an intense exercise (running, pushups etc) for 2 minutes. Upon finishing, measure your heart rate and record it. Repeat this process every minute for 5 minutes after exercise. Graph the results.
