1. “Do Now” Social Studies, Tuesday, 9/5/16
On the top of your paper, write “Study Guide Statements for Languages of Europe”. Copy all that is written below. This is information you will need to study for when we have the test. Put this in Section 9 of your notebook, labeled “Study Guides and Study Notes”.
Slavic languages include Russian and are found in central and eastern Europe. They do not always use the Roman alphabet. They use a Cyrillic alphabet. The European language that has the most native speakers is Russian.

2. The Russian language doesn’t use an alphabet like ours
The Russian language doesn’t use an alphabet like ours. They use a CYRILLIC alphabet Choose the letters that have the sounds IN YOUR NAME NOT THE LETTERS OF HOW IT IS SPELLED.
On a piece of unlined paper, you will write your name, as close as you can, with a Cyrillic alphabet. Underneath your name, write “Russian is a Slavic language and uses a Cyrillic alphabet.”
Your entire paper with your name on it must be filled with color, like Mrs. Cowart’s example.
