Repetition of a word, phrase, or clause at the beginning of two or more sentences in a row. This is a deliberate form of repetition and helps make the writer's point more coherent. Ex: "We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans…”

The appeal of a text to the credibility and character of the speaker.

5. Pathos
The appeal of a text on the grounds of emotion or the interests of the audience.
How does he/she make you feel empathy?

6. Logos The appeal of a text based on a logical progression of ideas.
How does the writer develop the argument to prove their point?

7. Anecdote
A “side story” in the text which highlights the author’s point.
Anecdotes can be funny stories designed to engage the reader.
